If Congress passes health care reform, the mood will be soured by the unforgiving partisanship of the bill. If Congress doesn’t pass health care reform, the mood will be soured for exactly the same reason. In either case, the U.S. may need a project that can cross party lines and unite Democrats, Republicans and independents alike. Here’s one — a project that, arguably, President Barack Obama should have taken on before he tackled health care reform: America’s transportation infrastructure continues to crumble and needs massive amounts of work.
