Oregonian: Kulongoski signs off on first stimulus highway project (OR)
From Oregonian:
Gov. Ted Kulongoski celebrated the start of the first federal transportation stimulus project in Oregon today. Using the federal money from the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, state officials added additional cable barriers and pavement for interchanges to a long-planned project that will repave seven miles of U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway). Kulongoski came to Hillsboro Stadium to unveil the first of hundreds of roadside signs that will mark stimulus-funded projects. Stimulus projects will help enhance the environment through funding mass transit and bicycle paths, in addition to maintenance of the highway system.
