Pacific Business News: Hawaii Stimulus Money Hits the Roads (HI)
From Pacific Business News:
While a short list of familiar names in the heavy construction business will benefit from Hawaii’s $1.1 billion in federal stimulus money, officials want as much as possible to reach small businesses and individual tradespeople. About $246 million is budgeted for some two dozen highway, airport and transit projects to support as many as 3,200 jobs between now and 2012. Another $203 million is budgeted for work on military bases. Two months after the federal stimulus bill was signed into law, the only stimulus job under way in Hawaii so far is at Kahului Airport on Maui.
