Reuters: Quick infrastructure projects bound by US rules-LaHood

From Reuters:

Infrastructure projects funded from President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan will not be exempt from environmental checks and other regulations, Transportation Secretary RayLaHood said on Wednesday.  "These projects are going to be funded by the book,by the rules and regulations that have been established," LaHood told reporters at the White House after a meeting with transportation officials from U.S.states.  Obama hopes immediate investment in roads and bridges will create jobs, but LaHood made clear that states should select projects that have already been through required checks and approvals.
