Virginian Pilot editorial: No way to build nation's bridges

...This system is no longer satisfactory, if it ever was. The percentage of the federal budget dedicated to infrastructure has been shrinking for decades. As a result, a quarter of all bridges in the United States are structurally deficient and most airports cannot handle the new generation of jumbo jets under development. Stimulus funding has temporarily halted the decline in investment, but those dollars will dry up after the next 12 to 15 months.
