Washington, D.C. – December 15, 2020 – In response to President-Elect Joe Biden’s announcement that he will nominate Pete Buttigieg to be Secretary of Transportation, Building America’s Future’s Co-Chairs, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood issued the following statements:
“Mayor Pete is a terrific choice to lead the nation’s Department of Transportation. As a presidential candidate he put forth a visionary infrastructure plan to modernize the nation’s transportation systems and address climate resiliency. Additionally, he was a stand-out during his participation at the first-ever Presidential Candidate Forum on Infrastructure that was held earlier this year in Las Vegas. With Mayor Pete at USDOT, President-Elect Biden is building a team that will help America build back better,” said Governor Ed Rendell.
“Congratulations to Mayor Pete on his nomination. He will play a critical role in designing an infrastructure package to reinvigorate America’s economy that has been ravaged by the coronavirus. As a former Transportation Secretary, I know first-hand how infrastructure investments can revitalize and grow the economy. BAF looks forward to working with him and the Biden Administration in crafting a long-term infrastructure plan to get America moving again,” said Secretary Ray LaHood.
