Washington, D.C. – January 15, 2021 – Today, Building America’s Future Co-Chairs, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, issued the following statements in response to President-Elect Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
The Plan will encompass two phases with the first focusing on immediate relief in the form of such things as targeted $1400 checks, expanded unemployment insurance, state and local funding, accelerate vaccine roll out and assist in opening more schools. The second phase will target initiatives to promote economic recovery including a robust infrastructure plan that will be announced next month.
“A big and bold infrastructure plan is desperately needed to kick start our economy and create thousands of good-paying middle-class jobs. We look forward to working with the Biden Administration to build back better,” said Governor Ed Rendell.
“We expect that President-Elect Biden’s infrastructure plan will be robust, as it should be because the coronavirus has put a damper on everything. It’s time for Republicans and Democrats come together to rebuild our country” said Secretary Ray LaHood.
