We are saddened to learn of the passing of nine-term Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii. As a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Senator Inouye was a giant in the world of transportation and infrastructure for decades. He understood the importance of infrastructure for his home state of Hawaii and for the country at-large. He knew that transportation brought people together, and he supported that vital government investment because it created jobs and kept Hawaii and America economically strong. Our thoughts are with Senator Inouye’s family and staff at this difficult time.
