Building America’s Future Applauds Ohio Governor Kasich And Legislature For Approving Funding For Transportation Projects

$6.8 Billion Allows Public-Private Partnerships

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Ohio Governor John Kasich and the State Legislature finalized the state’s new transportation budget of $6.8 billion, with $1.6 billion to be used for maintaining the state’s existing infrastructure, and granted new authority for the state to enter into public private partnerships to develop new transportation infrastructure projects. In response, Marcia Hale, president of Building America’s Future, issued the following statement:

“Governor Kasich showed true leadership by passing a budget that not only includes funding for new transportation projects and maintaining existing infrastructure, but also by providing Ohio a new tool to finance and build projects.  Enabling public private partnership (P3) authority will allow Ohio to deliver its transportation infrastructure more efficiently as well as leverage private sector dollars to improve Ohio’s quality of life and economic prosperity.”
